Meaning : Seed plants. Comprises the Angiospermae (or Magnoliophyta) and Gymnospermae (or Gymnospermophyta). In some classification systems Spermatophyta is coordinate with Pteridophyta (spore producing plants having vascular tissue and roots) and Bryophyta (spore producing plants lacking vascular tissue and roots).
